Nairobi — All Africa Games 1,500 metres champion Asbel Kiprop will be the key man in the four-lap race at the Kenya Police Championship at Kasarani, Nairobi, Friday.

Kiprop, who has just joined the force, has been training at the IAAF High Performance Training Centre in Eldoret. "I decided to skip the trip to America where I had planned to race in the Nike Permit meeting in Eugene, Oregon, on Sunday to race at home," he said.

Kiprop will come up against training partner Geoffrey Rono with Commonwealth champion, Alex Kipchirchir, expected to miss out as he is still in Europe where he is competing in the Golden League.

Lamu Thursday bagged a total of 160 points to clinch the Coast Administration Police inter-districts athletic championships title at the Mombasa Municipal Stadium.
