Freetown — Leone Stars Indonesia-based defender, Mustapha Sama aka Pa Saffa has called on all Sierra Leoneans to cheer the team up for glory as they step out against the Super Eagles of Nigeria on Saturday.

Despite facing a lot of criticisms from fans, the defender appealed for patience with the team adding that they are aware of what it takes to represent the country as a team.

"We love our fans and the fans also should love us. I am appealing to them not be harsh at us and be quick to call for our heads or even be chasing us after a bad game. This is football we are not going out there to lose," he said.

Pa Saffa was an object of criticism after Leone Stars' last week 2-0 defeat away to Equatorial Guinea in Malabo. He was accused of causing the penalty kick which led to the second goal of the match.

Pa Saffa told Concord Sports that the fans have to support players through good and bad times.

"Fans want us to play well and win all the time but the opponents we face also want to win at the same time. People have to understand our side. A lot of people don't know what players are going through on the pitch," he said. "We are looking forward to the game against Nigeria because it is very important and we need to get a positive result. If everybody plays together, and work for one another, we won't have a problem."
