Angola: Mombaka Hotel Shuts Down

7 June 2008

Luanda — The Ministry of Hotels and Tourism Friday here ordered the temporary closing down of Mombaka Hotel, located in the southern Benguela province, in order to replace the elevator.

The measure comes after the accident that happened last May 30, which resulted in the death of the former coach of the Angolan national football team, Carlos Alexandre Fortes Alhinho, who fell from the hotel where he was staying as a guest.

According to a note issued by the Ministry of Hotels and Tourism, delivered to ANGOP Friday in Luanda, the hotel's managing board will contract a company specialised in elevators that will secure the maintenance and technical assistance of the new elevator, as well as the assembling of the internal surveillance video system.

The tree-star hotel belongs to Cesar & Filhos Group.
