Angola: Government Approves Paradigm Statutes of Local Administrations

8 June 2008

Luanda — The Cabinet Council has approved in recent session the Paradigm Statutes of the provincial governments, municipal and communal administrations, documents that outline the attributions, competences, juridical status, structure and functioning of those entities.

This comes on a Decree issued in the State Gazette number 76, dated 25 April 2008.

The document states that the Territory Administration minister has the competence to approve, in specific cases, and officially publish the statutes and list of the staffs.

The government also considered that it is not technically feasible the approval of 17 provincial governments statutes plus 163 municipal and 533 communal administrations.

Thus, the Executive chose to present a summarised version of the documents, whose structural contents are similar to those in the respective paradigm.
