Nairobi — A Cabinet minister is among four people who have died in a plane crash near Enosupukia in Narok District.
Roads minister Kipkalya Kones and Home Affairs assistant minister Lorna Laboso were travelling in a light aircraft to Kones' Bomet constituency in Kericho when the plane went down.
The other two aboard the plane were Kones' aide and the pilot.
Mr Kones was an ODM Member of Parliament while Mrs Laboso -a first-time legislator- represented Sotik on an ODM ticket.
Contacted ODM spokesman Salim Lone confirmed that the Cessna plane had four people on board.
"The plane left Wilson Airport headed for Kericho at three o'clock."
He added: "Prime Minister Raila Odinga is shaken by the news."
The party has now lost four legislators since the 2007 General Election following the deaths of Mugabe Were (Embakasi) and David Kimutai Too (Ainamoi).
The feared death of the two parliamentarians comes just a day before by-elections are conducted in five constituencies: Embakasi, Kilgoris, Ainamoi, Wajir North and Emuhaya.

Now, lets be fair. Let us have a few ministers and MPs from Kibaki's GEMA involved in such 'accidents'.
Who maintains these planes? What security is there to ensure that they are NOT tampered with on the ground? Are exhaustive investigations carried out by a third party to exclude sabotage as a factor?
Mr you dont wish your enemies misfortunes, We are all qualified to die only the time and the form we dont know. If you are a Luo i can understand because it is in your culture to blame everybody but yourselves so in case of death you have to blame somebody and burn few shops. It is unusual for Mps from the same area to die in such a rate. May be it is time you looked for a solution from within rather than without. If it was from our place these things have happened we would go to our knees first and repent for whatever we might have done againist our Gods will.
sometimes dealing with the real issue is a lot harder so we resort to blame games, prejudices and conspiracy theories. The real issue here is aircraft safety should be more regulated and how this should be done, addressed. Moreso, I doubt the grief of the families of those who died should be embittered by inflamatory remarks. May God encourage and bless them during this hard time
You may be saying this jokingly, that some ministers from the Gema community die, in such accidents as the late Kones and his colleague, but knowing the ODM enthusiasts all so well as I do, I am sure you mean every word. However, what you have said will not happen, but because you have wished it on someone else, it will happen to you! The bible principle applies: The measure you have for others is the same that you get, unless you quickly repent. And I want to add this and it is something I have said in these columns: Those who masterminded the killings after the 2007 elections with the disguise of fighting for democracy will not go unpunished by the Almighty God unless they repent. It is not repentance for one to tell the president to his face when he, the president, was moving around Rift Valley informing the communities that the displaced persons were soon coming home; and I quickly add that this information was not necessary, but owing to the uncalled for animosity caused by no other than the leaders in Rift Valley, it was just important to inform the residents that those displaced were coming home, that the foreigners must vote according to the wishes of the local communities: That was pride and a show of non repentance for the after elections clashes. It is not even right to ask and shout on roof tops that those involved in the clashes and now in police custodies be released without conditions. Shame on who ever has uttered such words. God is just and fortunately He is moved by mercy, love and justice and not by the wishes of any human being. Neither Ruto nor Raila, not even Kibaki but truth, justice and love moves God. So much for your ignorance of the word of God. Alleluia, indeed the displaced will be home and no one will harm them because it is their God given place, whether they came from Coast, Central, Nyanza or Eastern! And those who sponsored and implemented the killings will face Gods justice. Indeed, some had the taste of Gods justice even much earlier: Before implementing or planning the same, they must have refused to listen and obey Almighty God and their action was a sign of their ungodliness and disobedience, the clashes was just a confirmation of their sinful state by choice. I have also said in these columns that most of the master minders are in very serious diseases and their monies, also ill gotten will never heal them. Choose my friend today, to repent and you will see the mercy and goodness of the Living and Mighty God.
