Lagos — Private school proprietors, who wish to build befitting housing facilities, suitable for learning and hostel accommodation for their students can now do so through Centage Savings and Loans Limited.
Managing Director of the mortgage institution, Johnson Gabriel Ndukwe, said in Lagos that the company's own way of supporting the education sector to deliver quality education. While lamenting the deplorable situation of infrastructure in some schools, Ndukwe said, "We will help interested private school proprietors build hostel and classroom blocks. We are determined to do everything in our capacity to support the delivery of quality education and in a very conducive environment for the educational system in Nigeria . We have opened discussions with the association of private school proprietors in Lagos regarding how we can help them improve their facilities. Some of these proprietors have come forward and we are exploring how to make it a reality", he said.
Johnson said beside the school project, the bank will also embark on housing development for some needy orphanages and build solid structures for them. These, he said, were in line with the social responsibility initiatives of the bank through which it intends to contribute to improving the society. "Centage Savings and Loans Limited is not only about business and profit, of course, we must do so to satisfy our investors; however, we are committed to improving the society and one way of doing so is by adding value to the education sector and the needy orphanages," he said.
With a share capital of N3 billion, Centage has been re-positioned and is currently developing housing projects in Owerri, Imo State ; Osogbo, Osun State ; the Federal Capital Territory , Abuja and Magboro along the Lagos - Ibadan Expressway. It is also currently selling the highbrow Ocean Garden Estate located at Ajah, Lagos along the Lekki - Epe Expressway.
