Paris — Angolan renowned musician Bonga is to perform on June 23 in Paris, France, in the commemorations of the third day of the Portuguese Language, promoted by the group of the Portuguese Speaking Countries Community (CPLP) at Unesco, ANGOP has learnt.
This edition will be officially opened by the group's co-ordinator, the Angolan permanent representative to Unesco, ambassador Almerindo Jaka Jamba.
Unesco's director general, Koichiro Matsuura, and the CPLP executive director, the Cape Verdean Luis Monteiro da Fonseca, will also deliver a speech at the event.
The ceremony will also have the presence of representatives of other CPLP member countries to Unesco, as well as international entities linked to the mentioned organisation and civil society.
The idea of creating a community gathering the Portuguese speaking countries started in November 1989, on the occasion of the holding of the first meeting of heads of State and Government of Portuguese speaking countries, at the invitation of the then Brazilian President, José Sarney.
Created on 17 July 1996, CPLP is made up by Angola, Cape Verde, Brazil, Guinea Bissau, Mozambique, Portugal, São Tomé and Principe, and East Timor.
