Kano — A 60 year-old man in Kano, Malam Garba Basha, along with three others has been paraded by the Kano State Police Command for raping his 10 years old grand daughter after giving her about N20.00 the little girl asked from him.

Basha who confessed to CityStrings at the State Police command said he was responsible for exposing the little girl into sexual act, adding that he has been taking advantage of his grand daughter. In his confession, the 60 year-old man said he was arrested few days later when he bought N10 naira worth of local pap from his grand daughter without paying her. He said when she came for her money, he decided to pay her N20.00 instead of N10.00 for her personal use.

"I told her I cannot give her N20 naira for no just reason. I told her if she will allow me to sleep with her again I will give her the N20 naira and she agreed. It is the work of Satan," he said.

Also Malam Babanna Shehu, an uncle to the 10 year-old girl (name withheld) said the other two rapists, Babanna Buzu, 42, and Safiyanu Adamu 40, were his friends, adding that they did not rape her on the same day.

The little girl told journalists at the State Police headquarters that all the men that raped her deceived her and raped her at different time, threatening that she should not to tell anyone.

The girl, who said her grand father raped her at his house when she took pap to his room as instructed, said she could not report the matter to her mother because he threatened her not to disclose it to anybody. Similarly, she said her uncle also raped her in his house when she took pap to his room as instructed, while his unsuspecting wife was sitting at the middle of his compound.

According to the girl who looked sick, the other two raped her in their shops when she also took pap to them, adding that she was forcefully rape with similar threat.

However, the spokesman of the Sate Police Command, SP. Baba Mohammed who expressed concern over the increasing cases of rape of under aged girls in the street, appealed to parents to stop giving their under aged girls items to hawk.

Mohammed said the police command is worried over the cases of rape of under aged girls. He therefore disclosed that the rapists will be persecuted after all investigations are concluded.
