Abeokuta — There is likely to be a clash of interests in Ogun State, with two of its Senatorial Districts, Ogun west and Central, agitating for the governorship slot in 2011.

However, except Ogun West addresses its leadership problems, keen observers say its aim at producing the governor may be a mirage.

The Central Senatorial District is already strategising and working towards achieving the aim, while the West Senatorial District is agitating that since the creation of the state, it has not produced the governor.

As the controversy rages, THISDAY checks revealed that Central is already narrowing down its choice to the duo of Dr Femi Majekodunmi and Minister for Mines, Steel and Solid Mineral Development, Alhaji Sarafa Tunji Ishola.

Stakeholders in Central Senatorial District have been having series of meetings, whose outcome favours Majekodunmi.

The choice may not be unconnected to Majekodunmi's efforts at bringing unity and harmony to the Egba, and the entire state.

Otheraspirants from the Central Senatorial District include Chief of Staff to the State Governor, Chief Abayomi Majekodunmi and Mr Kayode Soyinka,
