interview

Aisha Alibhai is a co-presenter of KFM's morning show. She has been an emcee at several functions around town. She is popular for the witty jokes she makes during her show and on stage.

You seem to like your shorts a lot, is that your fashion statement?

It depends on where I am going, for instance I wouldn't put them on to work. I put them on mostly when I am going for a concert, they make me feel very feminine and in control of my life.

Tell us something that happens on radio that we don't know.

The facial expressions we use; some times we get emotional. I don't remember what we were talking about, but there is a time Roger cried. There are also times when you have a bad day, but you have to be the same like you were the previous day, because fans need not know your problems.

Have you ever been stalked?

Yes, I have just been talking to someone on phone about a stalker. People have come to my door begging me to speak to them. I have had askaris fired for letting in people I don't know.

Which man at KFM do you think is most intellectual?

I think we all are. All the guys here are amazingly brilliant and intelligent. They all give a big contribution. I say this because I believe in team work.

What is the biggest blunder you have made on air?

I gave out a wrong sms number to the listeners, it was a promotion.

Which woman inspires you most outside showbiz?

My mum, nobody else, I can't say Mariah Carey, Nelson Mandela and all those people because I don't know them personally, they might be having a bad side and you idolise them. I have grown up seeing my mother, I know her good and bad side, her weak and strong points.

One thing people don't know about you.

I am very strong headed especially when a man tries to bring me down, like if a man in office tries to show me that I am a woman and therefore I can't do anything.

What is the worst song you have ever heard?

There is a new one called Kasolo, I think the singer knew exactly what he was singing about. It is embarrassing when you find kids listening to such songs because they are even played on radio.

If you were a TV presenter, what show would you love to host?

I would have loved a talk show like Oprah Winfrey's, I would like to talk to people and know their experiences. For me, reality shows are the best because people tend to relate to issues raised by them.

What is your biggest fantasy?

Getting married on a yacht with all my family, friends and some of my fans on Lake Victoria.

What is the worst thing a friend has done to you?

There is this friend I trusted so much, I could have offered my hand to be cut off just to protect her, but I realised that everything about her was a lie.
