Rwanda: Country Prepares Squad for Bydgoszcz

Kigali — Rwanda has named two athletes to start preparations for the 12th IAAF World Junior Championships set for July 8-13 in Bydgoszcz, Poland.

The local athletics federation named the pair as Adeline Musabyeyezu and Jean Marie Uwajeneza and will be accompanied by Martin Uwimana as coach.

The 17-year old Musabyeyezu who broke into the limelight during the selections to this year's World Cross Country Championship which were held in Scotland in March is set to compete in both 800m and 1500m while Uwajeneza will participate in 5000m and 10000m respectively.

This year's edition is expected to be the season highlight for 17-19 year-old athletes around the world. Following a memorable edition held in Beijing, China in 2006, the Championships return to Europe for the sixth time in the history of this World Athletics Series event.

The family of athletics will also be making a comeback to Bydgoszcz as the city played host to the very first IAAF World Youth Championships held in 1999, an edition which will be remembered as the springboard to international fame of World champions Yelena Isinbayeva, Veronica Campbell, Jana Pittman and Ladji Doucouré to name but a few.
