Angola: President Dos Santos Sends Messages to China, Vietnam, South Korea

Luanda — The Angolan Ambassador to China, João Bernardo, handed on 12 June in Beijing, a message from President José Eduardo dos Santos to the deputy director of the Asian nation's Foreign Affairs Ministry's Africa department, Lin Lin, asking for support for França Van-Dúnem to the nomination of judge of the International Tribunal for the Law of the Sea.

According to a press communiqué issued by the Angolan diplomatic mission to China which has reached Angop this Wednesday, in the same time the country's diplomat also handed over a letter from Angola's Head of State to the ambassadors of Vietnam and South Korea accredited in that country.

During the meeting with the Chinese official, states the press release, João Bernardo also discussed issues related to cooperation relations between both countries, having focused on the Chinese support in the activities of the national reconstruction underway in the African country.

In his turn, Lin Lin felt happy with the work held by the Angolan diplomats in his country aiming at developing more and more the friendship and cooperation relations among the people and governments of both countries.

Lin Lin considered as positive the participation of China in the African state's national reconstruction process, taking into account the results expected and achieved so far. Concerning to meetings with the ambassadors of the Republic of Vietnam and South Korea, Tran Van Luat and Jin Su, respectively, the three interlocutors reviewed the bilateral cooperation and the profile of Angolan candidate França Van-Dúnem, to the nomination of the International Tribunal for the Law of the Sea.

The election of new judges for the International Tribunal for the Law of the Sea will happen in the next Ordinary Assembly of member states of the United Nations Convention on Maritime Law to be held in New York, United States of America.
