Nigeria: NDLEA Confiscates 350kg of Indian Hemp

Damaturu — Yobe State command of the National Drugs Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has confiscated 350 kilograms of Indian hemps in January this year in Damaturu the State capital.

The state commander, Mr. Bamedele Akimbade Joseph disclosed this while inaugurating Drugs Free Club of Bukar Abba Ibrahim University Damaturu.

Mr Bamedele who spoke on the danger of the hard drugs urged the teeming youth in the state to absent from the use of hard drugs for the development and progress of the society.

The NDLEA commander reiterated the agency determination to achieve a drug free society.

He urged members of the drugs free club to intensify efforts aimed at enlightening the students on the dangers of the hard drugs.

In a lecture, the principal staff officer of the NDLEA, Mr Achinebu Peter, adviced the youths to desist from the use of drugs that will destroy their future.

The NDLEA official who described the youths as leaders of tomorrow urged them to rededicate themselves in their studies to build a more developed society.

Mr Achinebu highlighted the dangers of drugs which include physical and social problems, stressing that drugs can cause untimely death and madness among others.

The NDLEA official appealed to the state government to assist the Yobe State command of the NDLEA with the logistic to enable it to discharge its duty effectively.

Earlier, the Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor Musa Alabe represented by the registrar, Alhaji Jaji Maude, has pledged to render all necessary support and corporation to the drugs free clubs to achieve the purpose of which it was established.
