Nigeria: Congress to Brainstorm On Youth Restiveness

A global congress of experts will on Tuesday, converge on University of Port Harcourt, to brainstorm on factors responsible for behaviours which culminate in youths going into crime and restiveness.
The forum, organised by Department of Linguistics and Communication Studies of the University and Association of Child Development and Communication Disorders, would carry out researches to determine how child communication disorders affect behaviour in the Nigerian child.
Head of Department, Linguistics and Communication in the University, Professor Shirley Yul-Ifode, linked deviant behaviours in child to "Non-normal development of the child, disorders of communication and childhood disorders in general."
He said the meeting will also examine the link between youth restiveness and violence and communication disorders. Thus, providing a casual factor to high-rate of crime and violence in the Niger Delta and Nigeria.

"Because of the complexity of the subject, a multi-disciplinary and global approach is employed to elicit research information on the subject, which has far-reaching consequences on development of children and youths and the nation in general," she said.
