Nigeria: Again, Militants Attack Chevron Pipeline

Port Harcourt — Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta (MEND) has announced the destruction of another crude pipeline belonging to Chevron at Abiteye-Olero in Delta State by some angry youths who are aligned to them.

This is as MEND also declared that any attempt by the federal government to attack any militant camp in the Niger Delta would be taken as a full blown declaration of war which would make them go into total hostility.

MEND commended the youths for the action and said they were going to empower them with more explosives for more damages should the need arise. They however stated that the federal government still has time to free their leader, Mr. Henry Okah to partake in the solution to the crises in the region.

They asked the federal government to fast-track genuine peace before the oil export capacity of the country reaches a zero level as they have proved that the military cannot stop their attacks.

The militant group said that if the attack on Bonga Field which exposed and ridiculed Nigeria was not enough disgrace, they will do more if the federal government dared them, they would further ridicule the armed forces.

"For underrating our capabilities, the military has been ridiculed world wide after the attack on Bonga. If they want to further expose their weaknesses, then we challenge them to launch an attack on any of our positions.

"An attack on any militant position is tantamount to a declaration of oil war. The type of war they are expecting is far from what we plan to engage in.

"In order to avoid being caught in a cross fire, we are asking all expatriate oil workers to vacate oil facilities and living quarters in the Niger Delta while we settle our score with an insincere Federal government.

"We call on all patriotic youths in the region to sabotage oil facilities in your communities while those willing to be trained to fight are welcome in our training camps. Any community close to MEND camps that harbours security operatives or spies does so at its risk and such traitors will be punished", Gbomo Jomo charged.
