Petroleum products marketers across the country have been urged to eschew profiteering and make their products available to Nigerians at affordable price.
President Umaru Musa Yar'adua made the plea yesterday in Abuja while flagging off the African Petroleum (AP)'s N50 per litre kerosene campaign.
AP Chairman, Chief Femi Otedola, had earlier announced at the ceremony held at the company's service station on Olusegun Obasanjo Way in Central Area, Abuja, that henceforth, kerosene would not be sold for more than N50 per litre at its over 500 service stations across the country although other marketers are selling the product at higher prices.
President Yar'adua was represented by the Minister of State for Petroleum, Mr. Odein Ajumogobia, SAN who commended the management of AP for eschewing profiteering and providing kerosene to the ordinary Nigerians at an affordable price.
He challenged other oil marketers to emulate AP's gesture and sell their kerosene at N50 or even lower so as to assist the government ensure that its subsidy on petroleum products make the right impact on the masses.
