Galaxy Backbone Plc, a public enterprise of the Federal Government of Nigeria in conjunction with the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (OSGF), is organizing a one-day Stakeholders' Forum on ICT infrastructure in the public sector.

The Forum is in line with the company's vision of being a leading facilitator of the use of Information Communication and Technology (ICT) by public institutions in Nigeria, a statement from the Manager, Marketing and Corporate Communication Franklyn Ginger-Eke said.

The forum tagged 'The 1st Public Sector ICT Infrastructure Forum' will take place on between July 1st and July 2, 2008 at the Yar'Adua Centre, Abuja.

According to Gerald Ilukwe, Managing Director, Galaxy Backbone Plc, "The objective of the forum is based on the need to initiate a strategic and cohesive approach to the acquisition and deployment of a secure, pervasive and integrated ICT infrastructure platform within the Government as well as drive digital inclusion of underserved communities for the socio-economic development of the country".

The first in the series of such sessions, Galaxy Backbone will utilize the Forum to create the required awareness of the objective of the Government from which the company derives its mission as well as an engagement model designed to meet the requirements of the MDAs. Participants expected to attend on Day 1 include Permanent Secretaries, Heads of Parastatals and Directors overseeing ICT functions in Federal Government Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs), while Day 2 will have in attendance the representatives of State Governors/their representatives in charge of ICT functions and the Secretaries to the State Governments. This is in line with the objectives of the 7-point agenda and the reform programmes of the Yar'adua administration for a more reliable, efficient and cost effective adoption and deployment of ICT solutions in the public service for good governance and national development.
