The Chief of Army Staff (COAS) has approved the deployment of a company of soldiers from the Guards Brigade to partake in peace keeping operations, the Commander, Guards Brigade, Brigadier-General Babagana Mohammed Monguno, has said.
General Monguno spoke at the end of the three-day exercise 'Bakan kunama' held in Keffi, the Nasarawa State capital by the 177 Guards Battalion . He said the brigade would continue the training and retraining exercise as part of making the army more professional.
He said soldiers in the battalion will henceforth be involved in peacekeeping exercises and internal security in order to keep them alert in combat emergencies.
Also speaking, the Commander of 177 Guards Battalion, Lieutenant Colonel Idam Ogbonnaya Aghachi, said the troops have exhibited a high sense of professionalism in carrying out their tasks.
