The All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP) has condemned the judgement of the election petitions tribunal in Niger State which declared Governor Babangida Aliyu as the duly elected governor of the state, saying it fell short of the expectations of the good people of the state.
The party reiterated its support for the party's gubernatorial candidate in Niger State, David Umaru, in his appeal against the judgement of the election tribunal, saying "ANPP is optimistic that God will give them victory at the Appeal Court."
ANPP also accused the suspended chairman of the state's chapter of the party, Barrister Husseini Omar Garba, of impersonation following his recent public statement over the affairs of the party in the state concerning the tribunal ruling.
A statement signed by the party's Deputy National Secretary, Prince Babs Ogunleye, made available to Daily Trust in Abuja yesterday said, "We condemn in clear terms, the judgement of the election petitions tribunal in Niger state as it falls short of the expectations of the good people of Niger state and Nigerians in general.
"We wish to assure our teeming supporters in Niger state and beyond that the ANPP is one strong and indivisible party and that we are solidly behind out gubernatorial candidate, Barr. David Umaru, as we are confident that God will give us victory at the Appeal Tribunal," the party added.
