Eritrea: Fish Docking And Storage Facility Constructed in Massawa

Massawa — In line with the Ministry of Fisheries' efforts to develop and expand fisheries infrastructure, a fish docking and storage facility has been constructed in the port city of Massawa at a cost of about 6 million Nakfa.

The head of the port's fisheries docking section, Mr. Hamid Ali Sheikh, indicated that the new facility equipped with the necessary equipments could accommodate 5 tones of fish in 24 hours and produce about 10 tones of ice at a given time. He further pointed out that as the fish storage facility meets international standards, quality fisheries products would be supplied to both the local and foreign market, and thereby competes with those in the region.
