Afenifere, the Yoruba socio-cultural organization says all appointments made so far by President Umaru Yar'adua were lopsided, noting that he should find competent people from all corners of Nigeria to man sensitive positions.
The organization in a statement tagged; "Yar'adua's ethnocentrism stinks still" signed by its National Publicity Secretary Yinka Odumakin stated that if President Yar'adua could only continue to find merit in his own corner of Nigeria "he would do well to excise the rest of the country where he can only get special advisers and assistants who amount to nothing in the power equation."
The text of Afenifere statement read in part; "The ill-attempt by President Umaru Yar'adua at the weekend to exonerate himself from real allegations of northernisation of power in clear violation of the federal character principle in the 1999 constitution has further demonstrated that he has a dangerous mindset that threatens the unity of Nigeria and its continued corporate existence. After all the hue and cry over the lopsided appointments he has been making, we expected a responsive president to begin to balance the power structure in the country to allay the fears of shortchanged groups."
Afenifere lamented that the president has not seen anything wrong with all he has been doing and all he has sought to do is to justify his conduct by dishing what it termed "inconsequential, obscure and irrelevant" appointments to southerners.
"Yar'adua insults the nationalities in Southern Nigeria by equating some special advisers and assistants with the sensitive positions he has given to his own kinsmen."
According to the statement, President Yar'adua should have shown more sensitivity in his appointments considering the fact that we have a situation where all the three arms of government are in the firm grip of Northerners.

"The President is from the North, ditto for the Senate President and the Chief Justice of the Federation as well as the President of the Court of Appeal and the Chief Judge of the Federal High Court", Afenifere said.
It so surprising that we are having another shagari in the helms of affair in our country(nigeria). My president have no plan or programs for nigeria bcos our enomous task is beyound his understanding.
I blame the Southerners for doing the "dirty job" of the North. It does not take a rocket scientist to realize that the North has a well worked out agenda but the South is ever ready to cede a second place and be happy. This knee jerk reaction by Afeniere is too little too late because the south has failed to synergize and strategize an action plan to level the playing field.
The North knows how to tap into the psyche of the South by using one southern tribe or state against the other and emerge as their big brothers... [Read Full Text]
On this important issue, why is the Afenifere just raising this issue of Southern marginalization now, over a year after Yar'Adua made his lopsided appointments. Those of us overseas noticed these anormalies last year. We also wonder why the various Senate Committees who approved/confirmed all the important appointments never raised the issue with the executive branch. One also wonder why the group of Media reps. who interviewed the President last month as part of the celebration of his one year in office, merely made a passing reference to this issue with the President, and there was absolutely NO FOLLOW-UP to... I was thinking that president Yaradua has come to bring justice to Nigeria.I was really expecting him to be better than his predecessors. But it seems that this is far from being real. We are talking of better Nigeria while the same people saying it are original pepetrators of tribalism and sectionalism in the very country.Nigeria truely is a sick state no matter how anyperson looks at it. I found the following write up in the net.It contains killings that had being going on in Nigeria.Take a look below: Casualty Toll on MASSOB Between 2000 and February 2006

The Yorubas are known for their lousiness. They better keep quiet and co- operaet with Yar'Adua. When their own president OBJ was there didn't he westernised the country?
Now that all the corruptions commited by the Westerners are going to be reveals they've started crying marginalization.
