The flagbearer of the Convention People's Party (CPP), Dr. Paa Kwesi Nduom, on Monday made it clear to the chiefs and people of Kromantse in the Central Region that he will revive the ailing Zualugu Meat Factory in the Northern region in 100 days, when given the mandate to rule Ghana in the December general elections.
He also pledged to revive the shoe and tomato factories in Kumasi and Pualugu respectively, in order to create employment for the youth and people of Ghana.
Speaking at a rally to solicit for votes to advance his Presidential ambition, Dr. Nduom said he would abolish the National Youth and Employment Programme (NYEP) and rather incorporate it into the workers' brigade as established by Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, first President of Ghanaian.
He said the CPP is the only party that has created more employment avenues, citing the assembling of radio, "Akasanoma," canned beef, match sticks, sugar and jute factories as some of the early CPP efforts that created more employment for the people.
Dr. Nduom also addressed the Kromantse fishermen that as someone coming from a fishing community, he understood the plight of the fishermen and fishmongers, and pledged to make those practices a thing of the past, when elected into office.
According to him, the Central Region has been tagged as the fourth poorest region in the country, but he believes that the region deserved better. He therefore promised that a CPP government will fight against poverty in all the regions.
Dr. Nduom recounted his stay in America where Ghanaians were highly respected because they were able to captain a vessel of the national shipping line, the Black Star Line, to the US successfully. He said he will help bring back that lost pride to make Ghana the Star of Africa.
The Adontenhen of Mankessim Traditional Area and Chief of Kromantse, Nana Kwame Akyen II, appealed to Dr. Nduom and all Presidential candidates to conduct their campaign with decorum, to ensure an incident-free and peaceful elections.
The Central Regional Chairman of CPP, Mr. Kwame Adu Ansah, said CPP has more records in terms of job creation than the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
He called on CPP members in the region to wake up from their slumber, by taking into consideration the symbol of the party, the cockerel, which wakes people at dawn.
A cock was spotted around the rally grounds which the CPP members interpreted as a sign of victory and revival of the party.
