Lagos — The Action Congress (AC) in the United Kingdom has said that the recent car gifts by the Edo State Governor, Prof. Oseremeh Osunbo to the state's judges were meant to arm-twist the judiciary in the state.
According to the party members, the car gift was meant for the beneficiaries to mount pressure on their counterparts at the Court of Appeal where the case against his victory as Edo State governor is still pending.
Speaking in a telephone interview with newsmen in Lagos yesterday, the UK based AC members, through their Secretary General; Dr. Ibrahim Emokpaire stated that it would take the judiciary in Edo State an extra moral display to keep its integrity intact with the situation it found itself at present.
Emokpaire said Governor Osunbor's generosity to the state judiciary hardly came without any motive. "He knows that there is an eminent issue pending in court regarding his position as the governor of the state, despite this he engaged in car gift distribution to the judiciary". He said Osunbor should be ready to face issues at the Appeal Court rather than giving gifts to the judges.

A distinguished professor of law for that matter!!! Shame! A crying shame! Justice must not only be done but must be seen to be done.
This is a political faux-pax on the side of Gov.Osunbor. He knows he has some legal issues pending in Edo state. What does he expect people to think of his giving cars to judges. This might be termed as bribing the judges who might be presiding in any of his legal issues. This is a bad and dumb political moves on his part. Professor, think good.
