Kampala — Pallisa Civil Society Organisation Network has blamed leaders for being slow in combating cholera in the district. The disease has killed 17 people while 302 have been hospitalised in various health units in the district.

The NGO petitioned the district local government against insensitivity and poor response in curbing the outbreak of the cholera epidemic in the district. Mr Zablon Adupa a Resource Monitor at Paconet, handed over the petition to the LC5 chairman, Mr Issa Talligola, at the district headquaters last Frriday.

"The district while dealing with the outbreak of this epidemic, downplayed its mandatory roles by not ensuring the responsibility of providing good health but unfortunately led to the escalation of the disease and loss of life," the petition reads in part.
