Lagos — A suspected armed robbery suspect with bullet wounds has been arrested by the Oyo Police Command at the residence of an herbalist in Ibadan. He was said to have consulted the herbalist for the removal of the bullets which were lodged in his body in one of his operations.
But, luck ran out of him when the policemen swooped on the herbalist's house and met them where they were trying to remove the bullets.
While parading the suspects alongside other four robbery suspects at the State Police Headquarters, Eleyele, Ibadan, the Assistant Commissioner of Police at the State Criminal Investigation Department, Iyaganku, who represented the CP, Mr. Bashir Azeez, said the arrest of the notorious suspect led to the arrest of three other members of the gang who had been on the wanted list of the police.
Others caught by the police through the assistance of the suspect were Ismaila Oladimeji, Jimoh Hassan and Azeez Badiru.
According to the police, "on the receipt of the suspect, one Mukaila Adekoya (alias Obasanjo) at the SCID, the Assistant Commissioner of Police in charge of SCID, ACP Taiwo Lakannu, swung into action with result-oriented men and after much professionalised investigation, the suspect confessed that he was a robber with five other men who have been unleashing terror across the South-Wwest of the country."
When interviewed, the suspect, Adekoya, said: "We were using three guns, and the guns belonged to Wale who lives in Ibadan. But, I have told the police how to get him arrested. It was Wale that led to our arrest because I did a work for him which he did not want to share the profit with me. Unknown to me, Wale had instructed the people he asked to go and drop somewhere that they should kill me. I was shot at the back, but I did not die. Then, I came to meet one herbalist at Idi-Aro area to remove the bullets that were still lodged in my body where I was arrested."
The police also recovered the two white Toyota Lite ace bus marked BN 636 LSD, and a 75 model Toyota Corolla saloon car with number-plate AG 810 MNY.
He added that another number found on the windscreen of the saloon car was WAD 8953.
