Prime Minister Raila Odinga on Saturday dismissed Zimbabwe's presidential run-off election on Friday as a sham and called for the deployment of African Union troops in the country.
"(President) Mugabe is a shame to Africa and the African Union should take it soldiers to Zimbabwe to free the people in that country," said Mr Odinga.
Mr Odinga said Kenya did not recognise Mugabe as the legitimate president of Zimbabwe describing his expected victory in the election boycotted by the opposition candidate as "fake".
"President Mugabe went ahead with the fake elections in which he competed against himself. That was a fake victory and we do not recognise it," said the prime minister in Nyando constituency during the thanksgiving ceremony for the area MP Mr Fred Outa.
"You cannot say you have won an election in which you arrest your opponents, where you beat and kill your opponents, where people cannot campaign because you have locked up them in jail."
Bad books
Mr Odinga has consistently spoken strongly against Mugabe in the recent past describing the long-serving Zimbabwean leader as a dictator, which he (Mr Odinga) says has got him into Mugabe's bad books.
"Mugabe says that Raila is his enemy number one. I do not need to go to Zimbabwe..." said Mr Odinga.

The Zimbabwean elections were held on Friday even after his challenger Morgan Tsvangirai of the Movement for Democratic Change withdrew from the race citing harassment of his supporters and Mugabe's declaration that he would not relinquish power even if he was defeated.
Daniel Otieno, as a Kenyan journalist with the luxury and time to pry and meddle in the affairs of a foreign government, Zimbabwe, I assume business at home is prospering.
Therefore, would you on behalf of Kenyan Foreign Minister Raila Odinga and news outlet “The Nation (Nairobi)” provide the readership with the following facts:
1) Has it been proven in a court of law or a legal body that the Kenyan presidential 2008 elections were unfair and corrupt?
2) As a result propagating that the presidential elections were unfair did Raila Odinga’s political party or Kenyan government provide for the... [Read Full Text]
Lloyd, your comments are not something people can argue very much about. However, you miss the point. Otieno is writing about crimes, not accused of crimes himself. Instead of attacking Odinga and others, why do you not defend Mugabe's oppression, murder, torture, beating, of his own people?
No one cares about Odinga or Otieno. They are not the news item of the day. Your attacks on them, while mostly true, do not interest people. You are doing what Mugabe does. You cannot defend what Mugabe and his thugs have done in Zimbabwe so you... [Read Full Text]
As a journalist Mr. Otieno, should document source materials and cases if crimes are committed. Remember quoting newspapaer accounts and government CIA, State Dept. NGO'S are not to credible either.
Do you remember the computerized cartoon graphics in PowerPoint presentation used by US Secretary of State Colin Powell to initiate the Iraq which he later admitted to being mislead by his own officials.
Or can I refresh your recollection to the Kuwaiti Ambassador who used his daughter to convince the World White Press that Saddam Hussein took babies out of the incubators and let them die to initate the 1991... [Read Full Text]
One last reply. In speaking of crimes their are social crimes and political crimes. Below I mention MDC-T political policies that result in unrest and disorder that is tragic to all victims.
If Morgan Tsvangirai and MDC-T officials made the same political statements they make in Zimbabwe and in foreign countries and the laws of the United States or Britain were applied in Zimbabwe.
Mr. Morgan Tsvangirai, Biti, and Thokozani Khupe would be locked in Guantanomo X-Ray Concentration, and charged with an assortment of treason charges under the US Patriot Act.
Keep in mind who supports and demands economic sanctions... [Read Full Text]

Ahahahaha! LWBJ, you are the LAST person on earth who should be talking about credible reporting. You write the biggest load of ZANU-PF propaganda bulls**t!
Lloyd Whitefield Butler Jr. is not really your name is it? -sounds like a mix of the American "Jr", which the British don't use, and an attempt to sound "regal", "noble" with those double-barelled anunciations!!!! Come on, with a name like that, do you think any of your commenbts regarding Africa will be taken seriously?
Imagine, Mr Lloyd Whitefield Butler (not Senior) but Junior would like to comment.......come on!
Funny!
Lloyd Whitefield Butler Jr, such a strong colonial name! Makes me think you family is very British!
LWB Jr this is a very in depth and informative analysis.I don't think many will be able to argue and dispute the things you have said so will probably resort to name calling or some personal attack.
I have always wondered why when there are so many bigger problems within Africa that there is such a fixation with Zimbabwe and Mugabe.
Lloyd Whitefield-Butler Junior is an American(term journalist dropped as no evidence of journalistic skill or integrity has been apparent to date), with the luxury and time to report on nothing but manufacture text geared towards his obsession with the personality cult which is the African dictator Robert Mugabe. Using his rationale there should be no such thing as international journalism and I expect him to cease writing stories about Zimbabwe forthwith or admit without reservation that he is a hypocrite.
Once again on the Zimbabwe forum he attempts to remove focus from Zimbabwe the country of which this thread is... [Read Full Text]
you seem to be very bitter with Raila and his comments! Can you ask yourself who/what caused the skirmishes or do you also belong to the "blind" group to this?if things were done right and free and fair nothing of the sort would have happened.and please remind me, i never saw Raila killing or chasing someone from his/her home.its because he was fighting to end a similar case like Zimbabwe that almost took over Kenya thas why he's defending democracy of Zimbabwe, thats a virtue in him that noone and noone will ever take away from him!!!!what he said is right...
