Nigeria: IYC Asks Jonathan to Quit

Gabriel Enogholase

30 June 2008

Lagos — THE Secretary of Ijaw Youth Council (IYC), Mr. Eradiri Udengs wants Vice -President, Goodluck Jonathan, to resign from office if he cannot help in reversing the marginalisation of his people.

Mr. Udengs, speaking in Benin said that it was unfortunate that Vice-president would be in government and watch government construct a boulevard worth billions of dollars in Abuja while the Niger Delta Development Commission is starved of funds.

"If the Vice-President feels that he cannot influence anything in that place, he should resign and get out of the place".

"It is not an issue of being a vice-president from the South South and not having a say. They were passing the budget but the Vice-President did not have an input to reflect his coming from the Niger Delta region".

"If he thinks the environment is too harsh for him he should resign," Udengs said.
