Kampala — The National Resistance Movement spokesperson, Mary Karooro Okurut, has blasted opposition politicians for what she called "making political capital out of Dr Kiggundu's death".
"From the day Dr Kiggundu died, Forum for Democratic Change officials have been using his death as a campaigning platform. The act of stopping the Prime Minister Apolo Nsibambi from delivering the President's message was shameful to those who instigated it. It is very regrettable and unacceptable in a civilised society," Karooro said on Thursday.
She cited another incident when Gen. Kahinda Otafiire was denied audience at the burial of former Lubaga chairperson Winnie Makumbi. She said the act goes against our African culture and violates the rights of the deceased.
Karooro criticised FDC president Dr Kizza Besigye for alleging that Kiggundu might have been poisoned during the time he was detained at Luzira prison.
Karooro advised the opposition politicians to practise clean politics devoid of lies for the good of the nation.
