Lagos — ARRANGEMENTS were underway to fly former speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Mr. Daniel Young Igbrude who narrowly escaped death by whiskers in the hands of suspected assassins abroad for better treatment.
Although the wife of the wounded ex-Speaker had been incommunicado, inside sources told Vanguard yesterday afternoon that "as I speak, he must have been flown abroad because as at yesterday (Saturday) arrangements had reached advanced stage. Although the wife is not talking to anybody but I believe he must have been flown by now".
State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Mr. Charles Muka told our reporter that "investigations are on top gear. It was not a robbery but a clear case of assassination; he was trailed from Warri to Owhe.
We have spread our dragnets. All we need is information from the public", he stated.
Igbrude was shot by unknown gunmen while returning from Warri to his hometown on Thursday, the same day the governor's convoy was ambushed by a group of militants on Benin-Warri highway.
Immediately after the attack in which his brother-in- law was shot dead in the same car, Igbrude was rushed to an undisclosed hospital.
