Uganda: Vision Group's Bukedde FM on Air

Kampala — BUKEDDE FM, which is Vision Group's latest product, has hit the airwaves. The radio on 100.5 FM will broadcast in Luganda.

"The station is now testing its signal. The sound is clear and is received in the whole of Buganda, including Mityana, Luweero and Jinja districts," the Vision Group Chief Executive Officer, Robert Kabushenga, announced on Saturday.

"We shall test the siginal for another two weeks and by mid July, we shall be fully broadcasting."

He said one of Bukedde FM's immediate packages was the famous comedian and radio presenter, Columbus Oulanya.

"We shall re-launch him for our Luganda listeners, among whom he has a huge fan base," Kabushenga added.

According to the Kabushenga, Bukedde FM will offer its listeners a blend of entertainment, information.

It will also share a close relationship with the readership of the Bukedde newspaper, he added. "All Luganda radio stations use our Bukedde newspaper as their source of information without acknowledging us. Now, it is better for us to serve our listeners better," said Kabushenga.

In December, 2007 the Vision Group launched the long awaited radio station, Vision Voice 94.8 FM.
