A mother of five children, Amina Shuaibu recently refused to accept a divorce letter handed over to her by her husband, which led him to file divorce proceedings in court against her.

The husband, Yakubu Salisu told a grade one area court sitting at Gudu that he decided to end his marriage because of lack of peace, respect as well as constant fighting in his house.

He also revealed to the court that his wife left his house with all the children for over two years.

Responding to all the allegations levelled against her, Amina explained to the court that she decided to leave him after realizing that he is not interested in her and her children. "I left him in order to find a little happiness with my parents as he neglected me and my children in terms of feedings and clothing," she added.

According to her, she decided not to collect the divorce letter because she did not agree with the accusations levied against her in the letter that she was the cause of all the problems in the house, adding that he has another wife.

In his ruling, the presiding judge, Abdulrahaman Bello, separated the couple, adding that as a husband, he is the right person to decide to continue with the marriage or not.

The judge directed the man to shoulder all the responsibilities of the five children from school fees, clothing and feeding, while the mother will take custody of the children.
