Nigeria: Art Stampede for Steve Rhodes

28 June 2008

Lagos — Music fans, critics, and culture aficionados will gather today at the Banquet hall of the National Theatre for a special session of 'Art Stampede' in honour of late Elder Steve Rhodes, the late broadcaster-musicologist who passed on three weeks back.

According to a statement by the organisers CORA, the initiative is to 'pay respect' to the life of the late musician while creating an opportunity for younger acts to get even more familiar with his works, and his life, through a special documentary produced by Femi Odugbemi.

The 18-piece Steve Rhodes Orchestra will also be on the band stand

The Committee for Relevant Arts, CORA is a group of artistes, art enthusiasts, promoters, critics, writers committed to the development of the arts in Nigeria.

The art stampede has held since 1991 and this Sunday's edition will be the 75th episode.

Meanwhile, later on in the day, the 81st Great highlife party will hold at Ojez restaurant, Surulere, Lagos.
