Arewa community in Lagos State under the leadership of the Serikin Hausawa of the state, Alhaji Aminu Idris Yaro, has said the retired Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG), Mrs Farida Waziri, as the chairman of the Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC) should not raise any eyebrow from any quarter as she was eminently qualified to assume the position.

Yaro, who is also the chairman, Arewa Council of Chiefs (ACC) in the state, said Waziri was eminently qualified to occupy the position pointing out that her antecedents had convinced even the doubting Thomases that she was a goal getter.

"From what we have read about AIG (Mrs) Farida Waziri (rtd), we are convinced beyond reasonable doubt that she has the wherewithal to do much more than what Mr Nuhu Ribadu has done as the chairman of the EFCC.

"Her Curriculum Vitae (CV) has shown that she started from the lowest level in the Nigeria Police and rose through the ranks to the level of an AIG. And she is also a lawyer. And for anybody to rise to the position of the AIG, the person must know his or her onion" the youthful traditional ruler pointed out.

According to him, Waziri trained even both Malam Nuhu Ribadu and Mr. Ibrahim Lamorde among others adding that the way she excelled in the force and in other professional bodies she belonged to was a clear testimony that she could not only be Inspector General of Police (IGP) she was also qualified to be the President of a great country called Nigeria.Against this background, Yaro, who described the hues and cries that initially greeted her appointment by Mr President as unnecessary and misplaced however urged the people to give her a chance to perform, stressing that "as a mother, thorough and strict administrator, as well as seasoned, she can not afford to disappoint us."

Her appointment, the monarch declared, "is one of the best things President Umaru Musa Yar'Adua has done for this country," saying "thus Mr President also deserves kudos."
