Mbarara — CITIZEN Parents Primary School regained the Coca-Cola Under-14 Cup after edging Kahungabunyonyi of Fort portal in the final on Saturday. The Makindye based Citizen boys scored from the penalty in the soccer final, which involved the two most exciting teams of the tournament.
Citizen, 2005 and 2006 champions, exhibited a lot of flair while the Fort portal champions Kahungabunyonyi combined skill and determination.
The crucial moment for Citizen came early in the 23rd minute when Henry Kasule was fouled inside the box.
The tournament's top-scorer Emmanuel Oringa stepped forward to fire in the winning penalty. The goal took his tournament tally to nine goals.
After the shot, Citizen Parents, who were buoyed by Kampala Kids League players Musa Abdusalam, James Serugo, Hamid Boy and Oringa held on the lead with a tight defence.
Kahungabunyonyi's Ronald Kikonyongo, who was also chasing the golden boot won by Oringa, could not increase his tally from five goals.
Mbarara mayor Wilson Tumwine called for more grassroots sports development, before handing prizes to the winning teams and players.
The championship was sponsored by Coca Cola, who invested sh133m.
