The 12th batch of Grade I teachers graduating from Baptist Teachers' Training College, BTTC, have been warned against the dangers of alcoholism.

In his message to the graduating students, the Dean of Studies at the Cameroon Baptist Seminary, CBS Kumba, Pastor Patrick Serim, said about two-thirds of the graduating teachers were regular drinkers.

Pastor Serim told the graduating students that alcohol causes one to do things that he or she would ordinarily not do."Alcohol can lead you to contract HIV/AIDS and other sexually related diseases," the pastor warned.

He urged the graduates to abstain from alcohol and remain sober always. He also exhorted them to be effective and carry out their teaching with passion."Invest your life in Cameroonian children," Serim said.

According to him, teachers are gifts to their communities. The Principal of the college, Mrs. Theresia Nkweta, urged the students to be good ambassadors of BTTC Ndop wherever they go.

"We have given sound training and it is up to you to perform according to the formation you have received," Mrs. Nkweta said.In his speech, the Senior Prefect of the college, Jesse Ndonyi, thanked CBC for creating BTTC Ndop.

He, however, decried the poorly equipped library, poor toilet facilities and no pipe-borne water in the school.Meanwhile, the Divisional Delegate of Basic Education for Ngoketunjia, Julius Mbokwoh, promised the teachers employment.
