Abuja — Minister of State for Mines and Steel Development, Alhaji Ahmed Mohammed Gusau has urged the generality of Nigerians to exercise patience with the Yar'Adua-led administration, for it is keen on providing a lasting and sustainable developmental framework aimed at putting the nation among the top 20 leading economies in the world before 2020.
Gusau, who recently made the charge during an exclusive interview with LEADERSHIP, assured of the Federal Government's commitment to ensuring that the nation's socio-economic and political structures are developed to justify Nigeria's status as the giant of Africa.
"The reason why we are labelled the giant of Africa has to be maintained and justified, meaning that if we are to remain role model to other African countries, we have to stand on our feet by asserting ourselves. We can only achieve that by setting good and enduring examples, and I am very sure the administration of President Umaru Musa Yar' Adua is determined to realise that," Gusau said.
The minister, however, challenged all levels of government, the private sector and development partners, to support the Federal Government to achieve its seven- point agenda adding that the realisation of the seven point agenda is hinged on the support and practical input of all and sundry.
"This administration is conscious that sustainable economic growth, social development and poverty eradication are priorities of developing countries. I wish to enjoin all men and women, NGO's, states and local governments to collaborate with the Federal Government in combating the numerous challenges facing this dear country of ours," Gusau pleaded.
