Luanda — About 1.227,206 people were transported, from January to May 2008, from the Musseques and Viana stations by trains of the Luanda Railway (CFL).
Speaking to ANGOP this Wednesday, at Ingombota district, the head of the operations department of CFL, Aurélio Russo referred that from this number, 99,176 were carried out by the express train.
He said that at the moment, the normal train, with 12 carriages, made four trips from Monday to Friday and two on Saturday, whilst the express only made two, with tickets priced at 30 and 200 Angolan Kwanzas, respectively.
According to the official, due to patrolling efforts by the National Police acts of vandalism have ceased, people hanging on carriages' doors, railway crossing whilst the train passes trough, as well as the depositing of rubbish on the tracks.
Aurélio Russo referred that these situations caused various victims since the train restarted circulating in 2007.
