Angola: Seychelles - Ambassador Presents Credential Letters

The diplomat Ambrósio Lukoki handed over last Tuesday in Victoria city, the credential letters to the President of Republic of Seychelles, James Alix Michel, accrediting him as Angola's Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary ambassador to this archipelago nation.

During the audience, which lasted about 40 minutes, the Angolan ambassador was accompanied by the first secretaries, Pedro Kiala Bunga and Joel Kumbo.

Seychelles' secretary of State, Alain Butler also attended the audience, which took place at the State House.

At the occasion, Ambrósio Lukoki informed President James Michel about Angola's current political-institutional framework, based on the preparation of the legislative elections, set for next September 05.

He also expressed the interest of the Angolan Head of State, José Eduardo dos Santos, to reinforce friendship and bilateral cooperation ties.

On the other hand, ambassador Lukoki said that projects of building schools, hospitals, roads and systems of abstraction and supply of drinking water and electricity are being carried implemented.

On his turn, President James Alix Michel said his country is ready to cooperate with Angola in various domains, namely in the areas of oil, trade and tourism.

The president emphasized that he has been following with satisfaction the process of peace and national reconciliation in Angola and also praised the Angolan government's economic and social programme aimed at combating poverty and head towards sustainable development.

Also in the State House, the ambassador Ambrósio Lukoki was received by the Vice President of the Republic, Joseph Belmont, with whom he also discussed various aspects of bilateral cooperation, and this was followed by a courtesy visit to dean of the diplomatic body, the Russian ambassador Alexander Vladimirov.

The programme ended the meeting at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, where the incumbent minister, Patrick Pillay, announced that his country's Finance Ministry intends to invite an Angolan delegation to define the methods of cooperation in various fields, with prominent to the oil sector.
