SUNGURA music supremo Alick Macheso continues to raise the Zimbabwean flag high abroad when he leaves for Ireland early next month.

Cheso Power, as he is fondly called by his legion of fans, departs on August 1 ahead of two gigs in Dublin scheduled for August 2 and 3.

The tour marks Macheso's second foray into Ireland after his maiden visit to the same country on Africa Day seven years ago where he performed in Cork.

Cheso Power Promotions manager William Tsandukwa said he was thrilled that foreign music promoters were increasingly showing confidence in Macheso.

He also said that his band would not disappoint.

"Everything is in order except for the visa papers that we are expecting from the Irish Consul in South Africa where they were sent," he said.

Tsandukwa said the tour was also an opportunity for the musician and his group to unveil their current album Ndezvashe-eh? their latest Kangaroo Dance before their followers in Ireland.

The Irish tour comes after the musician had toured Mozambique late last month.

Tsandukwa described the Mozambican tour as very successful and dismissed reports that Macheso had contracted Malaria during the tour.

"It is not true that Alick Macheso contracted Malaria while he was touring Mozambique. He is fit and fine," he said.

Over the years, Macheso has established a fertile hunting ground for himself abroad, having performed in countries such as the United Kingdom, Australia and South Africa, among others.
