Kampala — A man suspected to be part of a gang that has been terrorising Gulu municipality has been arrested. The district Police commander, Yasin Ndimwibo, identified the suspect as Julius Mugoya of Iganga district.
He was arrested from New Tropicana Lodge on Acholi Road, Pece Division on Tuesday. The Police recovered over 120 keys, three identity cards, herbs and a chemical that was suspected to be chloroform.
Mugoya also had US dollars, Sudanese dollars, Francs, tools for making master-keys, three masks and dark glasses.
Ndimwibo suspected that Mugoya used the keys to break into lodges, offices, shops and houses.
"Cases of house-breaking and thefts have been rampant in Gulu. But because of the good working relationships between the Police and local council leaders, we have managed to arrest some suspects."
He appealed to the public to work with the Police to fight crime in the district.
