Tsorona — The Administrator of the Southern region, Mr. Mustafa Nurhusein, said that over 230 million Nakfa has been disbursed to address socio-economic problems of displaced citizens in Tsorona sub-zone. He made the statement in a meeting with representatives of the inhabitants of the sub-zone.
Lauding the activities being carried out on the part of the local inhabitants to ensure security in the area, the Administrator indicated that the Government is implementing different programs in areas around Unagudo, Ruba-Shiro, Ruba-Hames and Deqilefai, as part of efforts to achieve food security. Also in the same day, Mr. Mustafa observed the newly constructed Maishinti-Ham road and the cultivation of about 2,000 hectares through irrigation from the waters of Una-Andom Micro-dam and water diversion scheme
The director general of social service in the region, Mr. Tesfatsion Girmai, on his part noted that about 2.6 million Nakfa has been paid in benefit scheme to families of fallen heroes. He further pointed out that potable water supply projects are being implemented in a number of villages, including Una-Andom, Adi-Hargets, Ber'andi, Geza-Keren, Agamet, Maizgi, Mihrad Chela, Mirara and Sikum.
Moreover, Mr. Tesfatsion stated that a 32-km long road linking Tsorona with Kinito has been constructed and is playing a significant role in easing transport problems.
