Keren

In line with endeavors exerted over the past years to ease potable water supply problems in Anseba region, a total of 275 wells have been dug and 42 water reservoirs constructed in different parts of the region, according to Ms. Salma Hassan, the regional Administrator.

She indicated that despite the fact that most parts of the region are so arid that water is scarce, nonetheless more than 70% of the inhabitants have now access to potable water supply thanks to coordinated efforts on the part of the regional Administration, partners and the general public.

Ms. Salma further pointed out that about 13 wells have been dug and 7 micro-dams constructed around Keren in a bid to enrich underground water resource.

Reports indicated that there exist about 10 water reservoirs that provide water supply to cattle, thus relieving farmers and cattle from migrating to other places in search of water and grass.
