AFTER a less than impressive KCB Safari outing in Kenya, rally ace Emma Katto has been advised by his Finnish mechanic Jari Ketoma to master his car first and plan for next season.

Katto finished 18th in Kenya last week, failing to score any Africa Rally Championship points.

Katto also missed points in the 2008 opening round of the championship in Tanzania and at the Pearl of Africa Rally in Uganda despite importing a new Subaru Impreza WRX N14.

"Though Emmanuel is good, this season looks not good for him. It is therefore good for him to master his car in the rest of the events and plan for next season," advised Jari after the Safari in Nairobi.

The next ARC event is the Zimbabwe Dunlop Challenge due August 22-24 in Zimbabwe.

Meanwhile, the Kenyan government has pledged to the Kenyan Motor sport Foundation that they will help to have the prestigious Safari Rally back on the World Rally Championship calendar.
