Kampala — TEAM Uganda major sponsors MTN has offered an assortment of winner's trophies to the local organising committee for the All Africa University Games that start in Kampala on Monday.

President Yoweri Museveni is expected to officially open the games on Monday afternoon.

South African team officials also arrived yesterday, ahead of their athletes who jet in today, together with those from Botswana and Mozambique.

MTN's sh60m package, which also included the kit for the national team during the 10-day games, was handed over to the National University Sports Federation in Uganda (NUSFU) secretary Patrick Ssebuliba at the MTN Towers.

"Our wishes are that the best trophies stay in Uganda," MTN public relations officer Sheila Kangwagye said at the hand over ceremony.

Ssebuliba said that the prizes will be NUSFU's contribution towards the games, adding that the excitement has seen Sudan also show interest in sending a team to Uganda.

Most of the games will be hosted by Makerere, with other action taking place at Kabira Club, International School Lubowa, Lugogo and Kyambogo.

Ssebuliba re-assured that despite entering camp late, Uganda was focused and will put up a good show in most of the 17 disciplines they will compete in.
