Retail giant, Nakumatt Holdings, has invested Sh3.7 million in its third tourism promotion campaign, targeting its Visa Credit Card holders.

The customer reward promotion dubbed the Nakumatt Buy and Fly promotion features a grand prize trip to Malaysia and a host of local tourism packages for lucky customers using their credit cards.

Speaking during the launch of the promotion in Nairobi on Thursday, Nakumatt Holdings information technology director, Mr Sailesh Savani, said the value-added service the retail chain was launching is in line with its initiatives to promote tourism in the country.

"The Buy and Fly customer reward initiative is geared at rewarding all Nakumatt Visa Credit Card holders using their cards at any of our 19 stores countrywide or any other Visa Branded outlet," Mr Savani said.

"The visa credit is the most rewarding card on the local market and we hope to raise further awareness on its benefits while supporting the local tourism industry to get back on its feet," he said at the chain's Junction outlet.

Since February this year, the retail giant has been supporting tourism recovery initiatives by rolling out three back to back Sh10 million customer reward initiatives where winners get a chance to sample some of Kenya's best tourism sites.

As part of the campaign, the supermarket has rolled out the Smart Safari, Lets Tour Kenya and Buy and Fly promotions.

To win in the Buy and Fly promotion customers will need to buy goods worth at least Sh2,000 using their Nakumatt Visa cards at any branch or Visa branded outlet worldwide which will earn them entry into the subsequent draws with a chance to win any of the premium prizes on offer.

Mr Savani said that credit cards offer better security and protection for purchases than any other method of payment.

Global experiences, he said had served to confirm that ills associated with credit cards are merely borne out of poor self discipline and don't necessarily mean that credit cards are a vice.
