Dar es salaam and Coast in final

The Taifa Cup netball championship comes to an end today at the TCC Chang'ombe venue as Dar es Salaam seek to retain the title at the expense of Coast region.

The expected thrilling final involves teams that have maintained a unique unbeaten run throughout the tournament that started last weekend.

Both teams are on a 12-point mark and boast of highly talented and experienced players in their line ups.

Holders Dar es Salaam possess talismanic goal shooter Ndigwako William and Matalena Mhagama who are expected to lead the team's final onslaught.

However, Coast region have formidable star players who features for JKT and Filbert Bayi school teams.

Towering Esther Fanuel and stalwart Betty Ngasa are just some of the players most likely to lead Coast region's bid to shatter dominance of the Dar es Salaam team.

During their penultimate match played at the Chang'ombe TCC venue yesterday, Dar es Salaam overwhelmed Arusha by 45-16, leading by 22-6 at half time.

The winners scored through Ndigwako William (27) and Neema Emanuel (18) as Arusha were rescued by Pili Bonye Tatu and Jenipher Sanino (9).

In another match played at the same venue Kagera emerged winners over Iringa after notching a 38-24 win.

They led 21-11 at half time.

Kagera's Warda Sapar and Esther Mwampulule scored 24 and 14 goals respectively, as Iringa's Penina Gosbert scored eight and team mate Grace Mwasote shone with 16 goals to her credit.

The third and last game of yesterday's round saw Rukwa and Lindi battling to a dramatic 20-20 draw.

Rukwa took a narrow 12-10 lead up to half time, but Lindi made a strong come back in the second half to hold the south western Tanzania regional team.

Rukwa scored through Stella Luvanda and one Zuhura while Lindi had Teha Mohamed and Sharifa Mussa in the score sheets.
