Nigeria: Customs Nets N97 Billion From Import Duty

Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has realised N97.15 billion from import duty between January and May this year.

Mr. Wale Adeniyi, spokesman of the service, announced this yesterday in a telephone interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja.

"The NCS got N20.04 billion in January; N18.9 billion in February and N17.7 billion in March, from import duty. For the months of April and May the NCS realised N19.6 billion and N20.73 billion respectively form import duty," he said.

According to him, the Service also realised about N14 billion from excise duty during the period under review.

"The NCS got N3.47 billion in January, N2.40 billion in February and N2.93 billion in March from excise duty. We also got N2.67 billion and N2.817 billion in the months of April and May respectively from excise duty," he said.(NAN)
