Somalia: Leader Returns to Mogadishu As Mortars Fired to the Airport

A delegation led by the president of Transitional Federal Government of Somalia, Abdullahi Yusuf Ahmad, arrived in the Somali capital, Mogadioshu friday while armed groups fired mortars to the convoys of Somali leader near the international Mogadishu airport officials.

Officials at the president's office told Shabelle that the president was unharmed and safely arrived at the presidential palace.

President Yusuf was in Egypt attending the African Union summit where he briefed on the country's situation.

President Yusuf met with members of the international community in Nairobi and discussed about Somalia and ways the international community could help in ongoing peace efforts.

He also met Kenyan officials and discussed the relationship between the two countries as well as ways to cooperate on security issues at the common border between the two countries.

President Yusuf and his delegation are expected to return to Somalia in the coming few days.
