FORMER Zimbabwean soccer champions Highlanders have been taken to court by player agent Shepherd Bwanya for failing to pay commission for the transfer of striker Ralph Matema to South African club Orland Pirates.
In August last year, Highlanders gave former Caps United chairman Bwanya the mandate to negotiate a deal for Matema with Soweto giants Pirates. Bwanya as agent was entitled to US$15 000 of the total transfer fee of US$50 000.
Court papers to hand say Highlanders only paid US$5 000 to Bwanya.
"The defendant (Highlanders) has breached the undertaking to pay the commission due to the plaintiff in full. despite demand, the defendant has not made an effort to settle the sum owing to the Plaintiff.
"In terms of the undertaking by the defendant, the commission was supposed to be paid within seven days of receipt of transfer fee from Orlando Pirates Football Club. Up to now, defendant has not paid the outstanding commission due to the plaintiff."
Highlanders officials could not be reached for comment.
Meanwhile, it's still not clear if the fringe Zimbabwe international striker will remain on Pirates' books next season after an indifferent debut season with the Bucs. The former Kambuzuma United and Highlanders hitman was signed by coach Owen da Gama, who quit the club last season and has since been replaced by Rudolf Krol.
Already, former Zimbabwe captain Peter Ndlovu has been told by Mamelodi Sundowns to look for another club after Trott Moloto took over from the sacked Gordon Igesund as coach.

Another Zimbabwean, Evans Gwekwerere is being offloaded by Moroka Swallows following the departure of Zimbabwean coach Ian Gorowa.
