Zimbabwe: Artistes Defy Odds, Stage Gigs in Winter

Harare — WHO said winter was a dull season, bereft of entertainment?

True, it is that time of the year when people shun outdoor gigs choosing to remain in the comfort of their homes.

It also the time of the year when musicians usually take a break from live shows, preferring to spend time with their families

But this is not the case this time around.

A good number of musicians have chosen to ignore the cold weather by lining up high profile gigs to shake off the chill in revellers and make extra bucks too.

This weekend, revellers have a lot to smile about as quite a number of activities and musical shows have been lined up.

The king of Marabi, Kireni Zulu will warm the crowds tonight at Je Taime Night Club in Glen Norah with his humorous songs.

Pamuzinda Highway Xscape, which has since earned itself the tag, "the home of entertainment" will host Pala Fala dancing troupe tonight in a show dubbed Daddy's Night.

As has become the norm, Pamuzinda will on Saturday host its old skool session with Tich Mataz, who will be the special guest, while the joint will dedicate Sunday as family day, where kids will be entertained in the presence of their parents.

Charles Charamba and Fishers of Men will hold a family show at Chitungwiza Aquatic Complex.

Sungura maestro Alick Macheso will hold three shows over the weekend, starting tonight at Gumbo Night in Raffingora before moving to Guruve Hotel tomorrow.

He will wind off at Tama Night Club in Mount Darwin on Sunday.

Dino Mudondo is expected to thrill music fans in Bindura while revellers will be jazzed by Rute Mbangwa at Jazz 105 tomorrow night.
